BACCICHETTO VITTORINO: WINES OF THE FRIULIAN RIVIERA

The vineyards and the terroir:
the Friulian Riviera"

WINES OF THE RIVIERA

The estate’s own vineyards extend across more than 100 hectares in the Friulian Riviera, which opens toward the Adriatic in the southern part of Friuli-Venezia Giulia — one of Italy’s most naturally gifted wine-growing regions. The Friulian Riviera in particular enjoys exceptionally favorable conditions for viticulture: the proximity of the sea brings warm, briny currents inland, creating a particularly mild climate.

SOIL DIVERSITY DRIVES WINE QUALITY

The environmental and climatic context of the Friulian Riviera yields wines of great depth and aromatic richness, pleasurable and expressive in equal measure. The estate’s soils vary considerably in composition: those south of the ‘Aghebune’ (‘Acqua buona’ — ‘good water’) stream lie below sea level and are predominantly silty, well suited to red grape varieties as they encourage structure and sugar accumulation; the soils north of the stream, generally at sea level, are clay-based and mineral-rich — ideal for producing great whites, especially Friulano and Prosecco.

Clay-based, mineral-rich soils at sea level: ideal for whites.

Predominantly silty soils below sea level: ideal for red varieties.

BACCICHETTO VITTORINO: TRADITION IN THE PRESENT

Alessandro and Paolo are the custodians of these vineyards: heirs to the family history, they carry forward a passionate vocation for viticulture and a deep respect for the winemaking traditions of Friuli.
